It's Fair Weather!

So Sarah and I decided to take Charlee and Max to the North Florida Fair on Tuesday afternoon. This would be their first Fair experience. I imagined their faces as they rode the tilt-a-whirl and the scrambler, the gravitron and the himalaya, but that is a number of years away.

We were content to feed the Scottish Highlander and a Camel. To see the Nurse Sharks... Wait?!? What kind of fair has Scottish Highlanders, Camels and Sharks you might ask? Evidently the North Florida Fair is that kind of Fair... so anyway, we saw a lot of fun animals and some gigantic pigs to boot.

Max and Charlee rode a few rides... The Fire Engines, the Motorcycles, the Merry Go Round and climbed through a really fun bounce house. It was a great time.

Then came the highlight of the night (at least for me...) the Fair food! We had corn dogs and hot dogs, an elephant ear and some fried oreo cookies. They were great! We managed to stay away from the fried twinkies, fried snickers bars, fried fat balls (no serously, that's what they were called...) and the fried veggies.

As we were walking out after a long 3 hours of fun at the fair we asked Charlee how she liked the fair. She looked at me with her beautiful little face yet with her nose a little scrunched up like she just smelled something a little rotten and her eyes a little bit wider than normal and said....

"I don't feel so well."

Nothing can some up a trip to the fair and a belly full of fair food quite as well as the words of wisdom of a three year old!

(Pictures coming soon!)

I have to admit that Obama can be a uniting voice in American History. I am hopeful. Mainly because I know that it's in Gods hands, and in Gods plan.

Fun Fact: The Washington Redskins play Monday night football at home the night before a Presidential Election. If the Skins win, the Republican Cadidate wins. If the visiting team wins, the Democrat Cadidate wins. I've never been a bigger Skins fan in my entire life than right now. (But it's not looking good from a football superstition perspective. 11:49 left in the 4th, Steelers 23 / Skins 6)

Sarah, Max, & Frances made it home safely. Charles & I are so glad that they are home! We both really missed them. Sarah had a good week in training down in Orlando for her new job.

Frances and Max had a good couple of days. Frances said he was good all 4 days. We're all glad of that.

Great Vacation...

We got back from a great vacation yesterday. Sarah, the Kids and I went to the beach in Kiawah Island, SC for a couple of days then to Maggie Valley, NC to be in the NC Mountians for a couple of days. It was a great trip. The only problem was that it was too short.

I've got some pictures and some video I'll be posting soon. Check back in the next couple of days to see the posts from the trip.

Just had a really nice visit from Uncle Jerry and Aunt Jane. They came by visited for a while this afternoon. They then invited me to come over for dinner at Bob and Sue's house (Aunt Jane's sister) with them. It was really great being able to see them and spend some time catching up. It's been so long since I've seen them.

It's the times like these that really remind me how much family really means. They are such wonderful people, loving and caring. Seeing them it was almost as if no time had passed.

Anyway I thank them for taking the time, and thanks to Bob and Sue for dinner as well.

Here are some pictures from dinner tonight...

Eating dinner with Charlee at McDonalds...

Charlee is a cheeseburger junkie. If she could, she would eat cheeseburgers from McDonalds everynight for dinner. Daddy is a pushover, so while it's "Daddy Days" she gets what she wants. :-)

Still Alive... Rockband style.

This is a song from one of my favorite video games called Portal. The 3 "rockband" members are some of my favorite hosts from different podcasts I watch regularly. The drummer, Merlin Mann, used to live in Tallahassee. This really makes me want to get rockband for the 360 if only for this song.

A Charlee Story...

A sweet "Charlee story"...
(sent to me today via email from my mom)
---------------------------------------------------
I was in the bedroom before lunch sorting clothes for the laundry. Charlee came in with her empty little red basket that she keeps fruits and veggies in for her kitchen. She handed it to me and said, "Here, put this on your face. You're the fireman." So, of course, I put it on with the handle behind my head holding my "mask" in place. She lead me to Max (he was sitting in his car seat on the couch) and said, "My baby has a booboo on his arm." Max was very compliant (and loving it) as I "doctored" his arm and wrapped it in a blanket. I went on about my business since the "crisis" was taken care of. In a couple of minutes I was putting clothes in the washing machine and Charlee tugged on my shirt. I looked around and with the sweetest face she said, "Thank you Fireman for saving Max."

She melts my heart and I love being with her!!!

Have a great day. Love you all.
Charlene/Mom
---------------------------------------------------
That's a great kid right there if I do say so myself! Thanks for sharing Mom!

To Jeff

Today we celebrate 7 years together. I just want you to know how much I love being your wife.
"Real love takes more than flowers, means more than beautiful words.
Real love means keeping promises, holding on when you don't want to,being strong so that others may rest.
And as time and change swirl around us, the love we share stands quietly in the midst of our lives, forever beautiful, forever real."

When I stop and think about what we've been through together - the good, the bad, and everything in between.
I realize that there's no one I'd rather share my life with than YOU!!!

I LOVE YOU JEFF!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Stop and think...

I just watched this talk from TED and thought it was quite interesting, and most definitely worth sharing with you. I don't subscribe to the same ideas and conclusions that Dr. Taylor does, but that doesn't make her talk any less inspiring, entertaining, or at the very least entertaining.

Go watch and see what you think. It's about 19 min long, so be able to watch it all the way through before you start, and make sure to come back and post your thoughts in the comments.

the perfect ending to a great day...

You know there are a lot of times where you go through life and its just another day and another meal and another this or that. But then, all of a sudden, out of no where, and totally unplanned, there's "just another meal" that is more special. Not because it's fancy or elaborately planned or because you have a great friends to share it with... just because it is.

Tonight was one of those times. But indulge me first as I share the rest of the day...

We woke up this morning after being able to sleep in a little longer than normal. (Sarah was awesome, because she got up with the kids and let me sleep even longer.) Then Sarah and Max went to a baby shower for one of our friends. They had a good time, but that gave me some special time with Charlee. (I love my Charlee time.) We didn't do a whole lot. We watched some Dora, Diego and Horseland cartoons. We cleaned the house up some. We made the bed, and did some wash (not much, surely not enough, but a little.) We picked up Charlee's room and got ready to go out.

We met Sarah at Once-Upon-A-Child around 1:00 so that Charlee could see Dora the Explorer and Boots, who were making a special appearance today and tomorrow. We went and got a couple of pictures with Dora.

After that we went to the FSU vs. Auburn baseball game. It was a beautiful day and perfect temperature for a baseball game. Mom and Dad had told me that they were going to go too, so we met them there. We had a great time. Charlee and Max were wonderful. Charlee was a little busy (as you would imagine any 2 1/2 year old to be) but she was good all the same. She eventually hit a wall and crashed for about 45 minutes.

After the game was over we came home. Charlee wanted to swing so Sarah and Max pushed Charlee while I cooked some cheeseburgers. We sat on the back porch and ate our cheeseburgers, Publix potato salad, and some Pringles, while listening to A Prairie Home Companion on WFSU (the local NPR station.) It was a beautiful night and an awesome dinner and a wonderful time with family. The perfect ending to a great day!

I'm on a diet...

So I started a diet to drop about 12 lbs over the next 10 weeks or so. So that I don't clog up my ever popular latimers.org blog with boring diet musings (or rants.) I created a seperate blog for it. You can check it out here... http://latimers.org/diet/ or by using the link in the right had navigation. I'm doing this to keep myself accountable over the time of the diet. if you have comments, please make sure to post them on the site.

Thanks... -Jeff

Post a comment if you would like. We would love to hear from you.

Tomorrow is the big day...

So tomorrow is our big day. Max will be born. Right now all of our parents are in town and Jeremy came in from Dominica to be here. We are really glad that everyone has come to be a part of Max's big day.

We really hope that Charlee is able to adjust to being the oldest from the only child. I think she's going to do just fine, but I can already hear, see, and even feel the sibling rivalry "debates" that are on the way.

I'll post pictures and news on our blog (http://latimers.org) as soon as we can after all is said and done tomorrow. Please be praying for Sarah, Max, and I, as well as all of the Doctors, Nurses, and everyone else that will be doing their duties tomorrow.

MORE TO COME VERY SOON!!!!

Today on the way up to SC, we stopped to eat lunch in Statesboro and Charlee was acting up a little, so I looked her in the eye and told her that she needed to be a good girl... to which she promptly thre up her hand in my face, as if to say "talk to the hand dad!" Sarah and I both couldn't keep from snickering at that.

Life with a 2 year old is frustrating and funny at the same time, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

ACC Baseball

Yesterday, Mr. Joe and I went over to Jacksonville to see the Clemson vs. Florida State baseball game. It was a fun trip over there, not necessarily for the outcome of the game for me, but because of the company I was able to keep for the trip. While there, Phil Sears, from the Tallahassee Democrat took a picture of Jeff and Joe at the ACC Tournament. We were listed in the "Fan Cam" section on the Tallahassee.com website with the picture below.

We had a great time, it's just too bad that the Seminoles didn't win and then later Wake Forest won their game which prevented Clemson from being able to play in the Championship Game.

The Pictures...

Well... as I posted earlier today, we found out that we are having a little boy. Sarah and I are really excited. Charlee is already learning his name, Max. However we might not stick with that but we'll see. We ask Charlee what her little borthers name is and she says Maahh...cks. I'll try and get a video of it and post it.

Thanks for the email that we have received. We love all of you and thank you for your thoughts and your prayers.

That's my boy!

Shanna's Wedding

This is a short video that my dad took with his camera phone from my cousin Shanna's wedding last Saturday. The people in the video are... Cassey in the yellow dress. Jake in the blue shirt and dark pants that dances with Cassey. Uncle Sidney in the tux, Mamaw in the blue dress that dances with Uncle Sidney. Jeremy in the dark pants with lighter blue shirt and white tie that dances with (and almost dumps) mamaw. Mom in black and green that dances with Jeremy.

Unfortunately Sarah, Charlee and I weren't able to go, but by all accounts the wedding was beautiful and everyone had a wonderful time.
